EXEControl® Global Solutions History

Dr. Dolph Ebeling

EXEControl® Global Solutions (formerly Ebeling Associates) was started by Dr. Dolph Ebeling in 1967 to provide software solutions to businesses (the firm was incorporated in 1969). Almost immediately, the company began working with very large organizations, such as General Electric, the U.S. Navy, and others, to develop custom software packages that ran on time-sharing systems.

In 1983, the company undertook a search and selection of cost effective stand-alone hardware platforms that would handle the computerization needs of an entire business. Thus were planted the seeds of present day Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software. Over the following several years, the company would develop and implement its ERP software across many companies and many industries. In the later eighties, the company engaged a complete rewrite of the software that reflected best-of-breed techniques being used by successful businesses that would span industries. The development process focused on designing a system that would be “The Most Flexible Standard Software Solution Available.” This package would be known by the world as EXEControl®.

Since then, the system has undergone significant enhancements in response to changing technologies and the effects of continuous business process improvement by its user community.

What sets EXEControl® Global Solutions apart

In a business environment in which computer and technology companies come and go with amazing rapidity, EXEControl® attributes its continued success to five key attributes:

Focusing on solutions, not simply technology. "When we look at our clients' businesses, we look for opportunities to improve their efficiency and profitability. Then we select the technologies that will produce the desired results," says Allan Robison: Company President. "Many computer companies got it backwards by asking 'how can we apply this cool technology?' instead of 'how can we solve business problems more effectively?'"

Focusing on pay-off. "Computer automation should always be applied where it will deliver ROI," Robison says. "It's pointless to spend thousands to save only hundreds, but it makes tremendous sense to invest $10,000 in automation that will save $25,000 the first year. To suggest the right places to apply technology requires our understanding of the business and the technologies available to improve it." He adds, "Too often, companies focus solely on the cost of a solution. They say, 'That will cost a lot of money.' But if they look at the other side of the equation, they will see that the lost opportunity cost is even higher."

Designing software to fit the way people work. Our software is designed to mirror company operations. The question is simple: do you force someone into a generic box or do you tailor a box to fit the need? Software that fits succeeds.

Designing software for long-term stability. Our software is based on years of close collaboration with our customers . . . real-world experience, not ivory tower programming concepts. Our new versions are always backwards compatible and seamless to the customer. As a result, some customers have been with us for more than two decades.

Emphasizing customer service. "The most important thing any customer can know," Allan Robison says, "is that we are 100% behind them for support. Our customers depend on our systems. If they have any problem whatsoever, we regard it as our problem, even if the source of the problem is not related to EXEControl®. Our commitment is to fix it as quickly as possible."
